From Field to Pantry: Why We Love Fruity Farmer Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil
Share
Here in Milton Keynes, we're lucky to have some exceptional food producers right on our doorstep. One of our favourites, and a staple on our shelves is the Fruity Farmer Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil. Fruity Farmer Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil is grown and pressed entirely on a single family farm in Stoke Goldington, just a few miles from our shop on Buckingham Road in Bletchley.
What makes cold pressed rapeseed oil special?
Unlike refined oils that are extracted using heat and chemicals, cold pressing preserves the oil's natural flavour, colour, and nutritional profile. The result is a beautifully golden oil with a distinctive, slightly nutty taste that you simply won't find in the average supermarket bottle. Once you try it, it's hard to go back.
Rapeseed oil has grown in popularity across the UK over the last decade, and it is easy to understand why. It is one of the few cooking oils that can be grown and pressed entirely in Britain, meaning fewer food miles, fresher oil, and a direct connection to the land it came from.
Nutritionally, rapeseed oil punches well above its weight:
- Half the saturated fat of olive oil
- Rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids
- High smoke point, making it ideal for roasting, frying, and baking as well as dressings and dips
Why it is better for you
Fruity Farmer Rapeseed Oil is low in saturated fats, roughly half the saturated fat content of olive oil. It is also a natural source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, which support heart health. Its high smoke point makes it suitable for frying, roasting, and baking, as well as cold uses like dressings and dips. It is genuinely one of the most versatile oils you can keep in your kitchen.
According to the
NHS,
replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats like those found in rapeseed oil can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
How to use it
- Roasting vegetables, toss your seasonal veg in a generous glug before roasting. It handles high heat beautifully.
- Salad dressings, it's light, fruity flavour works wonderfully in a simple vinaigrette when paired with mustard and vinegar
- Baking, swap it in anywhere a recipe calls for a neutral oil.
- Drizzling, finish soups, hummus, or fresh bread with a splash straight from the bottle.
- Frying its high smoke point makes it ideal for pan frying and stir fries.
